A well thought out market stall display can make all the difference when it comes to attracting customers and making sales. Whether you're just starting out or looking to improve your setup, a strategic layout and thoughtful presentation can help you stand out and create a professional, welcoming space.
In this post, we’ll look at two popular U shaped table setups, explain the pros and cons of each and share tips on using eye level displays and tiered arrangements to your advantage.
U-Shaped Market Stall Layouts
A U shape layout uses three tables arranged in a “U” to maximise display space and create flow.
Option 1: Front Facing U-Shape
In this setup, see Buckleys Oysters Bar example below from the Terrigal Beach MArkets, tables are positioned at the front and sides of the stall. Customers browse from the outside.
Pro's
Great for smaller spaces or high foot traffic
Easier to control stock and serve from inside
Ideal for food stalls and small packaged goods
Con's
Can feel closed off if products are too densely placed
Limited customer interaction if they don't linger
Less immersive shopping experience
Option 2: Walk In U-Shape
In this set up, see Scents By Eloise example below from The Entrance Markets, tables/shelves are arranged to invite customers to step into the stall space and browse all three sides.
Pro's
Creates an immersive experience
Customers stay longer and browse more
Great for clothing, candles, homewares or variety products
Con's
Needs slightly more space
Can become crowded with multiple shoppers
May need signage or open sides to encourage entry
Displaying at Eye Level
Products displayed at eye level are the first to catch a customer’s attention. Use boxes, risers, crates, or purpose built stands to lift your bestsellers or most visually appealing products.
Tips:
Use crates turned upside down or stackable boxes for natural height.
Place prices clearly at eye level too don’t make customers search.
Keep clutter below the table or behind a screen.
Use Tiers and Levels
Flat tables can quickly look cluttered or boring. Create tiers to draw the eye across your display.
Tier Type:
Low - Products in baskets, flat trays
Mid - items on crates, boxes or books
High - Shelves, tiered stands, hanging racks
Bonus tip: Triangular arrangements are visually pleasing, put your hero product at the top point and smaller accessories on either side.

Final Tips for Success
Keep it tidy: Re set your table often during the day.
Signage matters: Use a consistent brand style for your stall name, product info, and prices.
Test different layouts: Some events may suit front facing stalls, others might benefit from a walk in setup.
Weatherproof: Use clips, weights and waterproof containers if outdoors.
Creating a market stall that draws customers in and encourages browsing doesn’t need to be complicated. With the right layout, clever use of space and eye catching product placement, you can turn your stall into a mini boutique that keeps people coming back.
Most of all, have fun with your set up!
